When packing a diaper bag, especially for toddler twins and a newborn, less is always more. I get so excited when I find something I can use multiple ways, like their muslin swaddle blankets.
Once I discovered all the different uses they have, I make sure to always have atleast two packed with me on the go.
They don’t take up a lot of space.
That’s why I’m kicking off this week’s newborn series with my top 10 uses for muslin swaddles, along with my favorite ones to use, but I’m pretty sure you could find more.
Of course swaddle had to be mentioned first. I love using muslin blankets to swaddle because of it’s size. I can be confident in knowing my baby is wrapped snug and will be warm.
How to swaddle:
2. Baby wearing
Why buy a sling or baby carrier for the first few months when you have muslin swaddle blankets? They are easy to set up, more than likely in easy reach, and different colors and designs.
I found it hard to get into some baby carriers on my own with all the straps, this one I can easily do on my own and if you are carrying twins, you can do a swaddle on each side.
Not to mention comfortable, something every new mama looks for in all she wears for the first 6 weeks.
3. Car seat cover
On those spring and summer days use a muslin swaddle blanket as a car seat cover instead of a heavy blanket or thick car seat cover.
Plus muslin swaddle blankets are cheaper and have multi-uses versus car seat covers. I’m all for saving mama’s money.
4. Nursing cover
I’ve seen muslin swaddle blankets worn as infinity scarves for easy access while breastfeeding. There are many different ways you can use them to cover up in public places or around guests.
5. Burp Cloth
Forgot your burp rag? You can easily fold your muslin swaddle blanket down to your desired size and use it the same way you would your burp cloth.
6. Stroller shade/cover
Those extremely sunny days can damage your baby’s skin. Draping a muslin swaddle blanket over your stroller handles can give their skin relief from UV rays and the scorching sun.
7. Cloth diaper
Yes. You read right. Simply fold your muslin swaddle blanket to the size of a flat.
Flat- Type of cloth diaper that is a large singled layer square.
8. Changing pad
This one is pretty self explanatory. When you’re in public places or changing your baby on a bed or couch and don’t want to change your baby directly on that surface, you can fold a muslin swaddle blanket to the right size and lay your baby on top of it.
The great part about using a muslin swaddle blanket for a bib is being able to control the size. If you have a messy eater you can create a larger bib to avoid a change of clothing.
10. Photo prop
We all have seen the adorable baby photos of newborns wrapped and swaddled inside of baskets. These blankets are perfect for capturing those breathtaking pictures.
Ok mama’s it’s your turn,
